Pipeline
We remain focused on strengthening our pipeline and driving industry-leading R&D productivity. We are accelerating our effort in two key areas:
- Transforming our R&D to leverage the best of what we have and building the capabilities that we need for world-class performance.
- Boosting our efforts to source innovation from outside AstraZeneca and working in partnerships across all aspects of our R&D to broaden the base for success.
Business growth
We continue to work to maintain our position among the industry leaders by driving commercial excellence and competing on a global scale, across geographies and across our product range. This includes particular focus on:
- Creating an industry-leading capability in ‘payer partnering’ to ensure that the needs of our customers are clearly understood and included in our decision-making.
- Building on the investments we have already made, and our experience to date, in emerging markets to support continued growth in these high-potential geographies. This includes the addition of branded generic products to our emerging markets range, sourced externally and marketed under the AstraZeneca brand.
Business shape
We remain committed to creating an organisation with the flexibility and financial strength to adapt quickly and effectively within an increasingly challenging business environment. In particular, we are concentrating on:
- Driving efficiency and effectiveness across all aspects of our business using improvement programmes such as Lean Sigma.
- Making greater use of outsourcing and strategic collaborations with other organisations.
