What we offer partners
We work together with partners to create tailored deals that are structured to drive real progress in developing innovative medicines to deliver value for both parties and ultimately improve the lives of patients.
As well as traditional in-licensing opportunities, our activities include acquisitions, risk sharing deals, spin-outs, equity stakes, divestments and out-licensing deals. No two deals are the same. We work in collaboration with our partners to structure customised partnerships that allow both parties to leverage their unique capabilities and assets to achieve common goals.
In addition to our creative deal making capabilities we bring a broad range of skills and resources to a partnership, including leading discovery and development and world class commercial capabilities. We have a global reach coupled with local experience and knowledge.
Our Strategic Partnering & Business Development team supports the delivery of this key strategic priority through a globally integrated organisation.
Responsive and insightful feedback
Early engagement with our R&D and commercial teams means there is a champion to support your product through the partnering process and provide responsive and insightful feedback based on our 5R evaluation criteria whether or not the partnership goes ahead.
Leading clinical and regulatory capabilities
Our highly experienced Global Medicines Development organisation is responsible for late-stage clinical development and delivery of regulatory packages in support of new, commercially attractive and reimbursable medicines. Our clinical approach is based on trial design and interpretation to define the advantages of the product, based on unmet patient need. With a clear line of sight, we proactively liaise with regulators early on in drug development to ensure that your product is clearly positioned for approval.
Meeting payer needs
Payer priorities are a critical factor driving our major decisions from early discovery through regulatory clearance, price negotiations and commercialisation in each therapy area and in every market.
We are building an industry-leading capability in ‘real world evidence,’ including observational studies, mining claims and clinical databases, to demonstrate the value of treatments and their impact on the total cost of care. We work closely with payers to provide informed, evidence-based decision.

World class commercial capabilities
We have a strong heritage of commercial success with a proven track record in primary and speciality care. Many of our products are category leaders across the globe.
We have critical mass in over 100 countries including key strategic markets and have an unrivalled capacity to launch and optimise commercialisation of brands around the world.
We have been operating in China for approximately 20 years and are ranked number 2 in the share of prescription medicines. Our goal is to maintain double-digit growth in the emerging markets where we will continue to increase our strengths through strategic investments.
Combining our disease area expertise with country-specific knowledge based on deep customer and payer insights helps us to register, market and sell medicines that best meet local needs in both established and emerging markets. Through our innovative commercial channels, we aim to better serve the needs of our customers, while expert life-cycle management helps extend the value of the products we market.
