To AstraZeneca, externalisation is not a short-term stopgap to backfill the pipeline. It is a long-term commitment to step up our access to the world of scientific innovation that resides outside our laboratories.
In addition to traditional in-licensing opportunities, our externalisation activities span acquisitions, risk sharing deals, spin-outs, equity stakes, divestments and out-licensing deals.
Because no two deals are the same, we work with potential partners to structure deals through customised approaches that allow both partners to leverage unique capabilities and assets in order to achieve common goals.
Our Strategic Planning & Business Development (SPBD) supports the delivery of this key strategic priority through a globally integrated cross-business organisation.
