Cancer research and enabling technologies will be AstraZeneca's major growth areas at the site, together with research into cardiovascular disease (including diabetes and obesity) and inflammatory conditions such as arthritis. This investment is for new 'state of the art' facilities including a DNA archive and genotyping centre, a protein and cell production facility, a safety assessment building and office accommodation. These projects are planned to be completed over the next two to three years.
AstraZeneca's Alderley Park site is a major centre of excellence for research and development. This is the first phase of a continuing investment programme to develop and build on a world-leading research and development capability. The site also houses other key international business functions including global Operations, International Sales and Marketing and Product Strategy.
