The plant, located in Wuxi New District, near Tai Hu Lake, 200 kms north west of Shanghai, covers a total area of 96,000 square metres. Its estimated annual production capacity from leading edge facilities will be 1.5bn tablets, 70m capsules, 2.5m bottles of oral solutions, 4m bottles of dose-aerosols/sprays and 6m vials of sterile products.

The plant employs 280 people. The company's top selling Losec treatment for stomach acid disorders, as well as Plendil for heart disease and asthma treatments are among the products from AstraZeneca range to be produced there.
