Global Compound Sciences

This capability focuses on maximising the value of the AstraZeneca compound collection in drug discovery by integrating compound management, compound sourcing, computational chemistry and cheminformatics. The main roles of the capability are to:

• manage the AstraZeneca compound collection by monitoring and improving compound handling and storage, by controlling quality and integrity of the compounds, and by computational annotation of compounds and collection.
• deliver sets of compounds from the collection to screening centres and discovery project teams, employing automated technologies and processes,
• enhance the compound collection by the by the efficient collation of AstraZeneca project compounds, selection and acquisition of external compounds, and, through the compound collection enhancement programme, design and synthesis of novel, proprietory compounds
• support improved design of compounds by developing global platforms of computational and informatics tools.
