- Animal studies continue to play a vital role in the research and development of new and improved medicines.
- We are committed to the responsible use of animals and the welfare of the animals we use is a top priority.
AstraZeneca acknowledges the right of every individual to express their views on the use of animals in research but we condemn the use of violence and other illegal acts. AstraZeneca operates in accordance with all applicable laws worldwide in the conduct of its research and firmly rejects any harassment, intimidation or harming of our employees, or their families, as totally unacceptable.
The company welcomes and proactively engages in responsible dialogue about the need for animal research in the search for new medicines that bring benefit for patients worldwide. We work both within the Company and the wider scientific community to share knowledge and experience in the replacement, reduction and refinement (the 3Rs) of animal studies. We continue to communicate transparently and openly with our stakeholders on the issue.
