Science is what drives AstraZeneca. We keep pushing the boundaries of science to deliver life-changing medicines that address significant unmet medical need in diseases affecting millions of people around the world.
Encouraging innovation and inspiring the next generation of start-ups
Innovation in life sciences
Entrepreneurial thinking and smart risk-taking are at the heart of what we do at AstraZeneca. We are also passionate about supporting innovation in life sciences and helping the next generation of entrepreneurs succeed within our local bioscience ecoystems globally.
Business mentoring initiatives
In the UK, we have several business mentoring initiatives to support life science entrepreneurs. More than 80 AstraZeneca employees regularly share their expertise in areas such as business development, marketing, intellectual property and early development with the next generation of biotech start-ups. This includes programmes run by the University of Cambridge’s Judge Business School and Lucy Cavendish College, among others.
I•DREAM
I•DREAM is an external collaboration platform in R&D, education, technology and government affairs being implemented through local bio-hubs in our Emerging Markets. These bio-hubs improve local capacity for R&D to address local needs. In 2018, AstraZeneca launched iDREAM hubs in Russia, Brazil and Taiwan, with important collaboration agreements signed.
I•Campus
In China, we opened a new health innovation hub called I•Campus, in September 2019. A partnership with the Wuxi Government, I•Campus brings together innovative 4D (Drug, Device, Diagnosis and Digital) companies, government, medical and academic institutions via an open collaboration platform, helping to accelerate healthcare innovation and sciences in China.
