Expo 2020 – Our ‘Collaboration for a Healthier World’ programme concludes in Dubai

Our ambitious ‘Collaboration for a Healthier World’ programme of events has concluded at Expo 2020 Dubai. Known as the ‘World’s Fair’, Expo is the world’s largest showcase of human progress, held over six months. In October 2021 we launched our presence at Expo from our base at the Swedish Pavilion, and since then we have welcomed leaders from around the world to a series of major Summits, exhibitions, and roundtables, harnessing the power of collaboration to build a healthier world.

We convened nearly 5,000 leading minds and 200 speakers from across industry, academia and governments to help solve some of the greatest challenges facing humanity – from unlocking the next great scientific breakthrough, to the decarbonisation of healthcare, and building the sustainable and resilient healthcare systems of the future.

With partners from across the health, private and academic sectors, we supported the launch of important new initiatives including:

  • Major new collaborations in chronic respiratory diseases, chronic kidney disease and oncology
  • Our R&D Postdoctoral Challenge to fast-track scientific discoveries
  • New and innovative agreements with the public and private sector to further our collaborative agenda to build a robust, sustainable healthcare ecosystem across the Middle East and Africa.

We’re grateful for the unique opportunity Expo and the Swedish Pavilion offered us to convene governments, leaders and innovators from across the globe to realise this ambition through action.

But this work is only just getting started. We will now take forward these conversations, agreements, and partnerships from Expo to drive progress towards our goal of a healthier world, in 2022 and beyond.
