I joined AstraZeneca in November 2014 from Almirall, where I was working as Global Alliance Manager for their aclidinium strategic partners. When AstraZeneca acquired Almirall’s respiratory franchise, I had the opportunity to join AstraZeneca’s Business Development team and to relocate from Barcelona, Spain to Cambridge, UK. Joining AstraZeneca allowed me to broaden my knowledge of the business development field as I have had the chance to lead and participate in a wide variety of deal types.
As Associate Director, Alliances and Integrations within the Business Development Operations team at AstraZeneca, my role is to lead cross-functional teams that manage alliances, divestments and acquisitions. Our aims are to ensure effective execution of plans, fluid and fruitful communication with our strategic partners and continued internal alignment, as well as to anticipate and manage potential risks associated with such partnerships. I am passionate about working with internal and external teams towards common objectives and ambitions. I also enjoy contributing to AstraZeneca teammates to help them deliver their best performance. Together, as the alliance or integration team, we can then operate as effectively as possible to deliver the best outcomes for patients and our partners.
I have a Master’s in Business Administration from the ESADE Business School (Barcelona) in combination with the University of British Columbia (Vancouver), where I had the opportunity to further improve my English and experience a different culture.
In March 2018, I was offered the opportunity to join Barcelona University as a professor with their Biotechnology Business Institute, where I now teach some classes within their Master’s in Project Management in the Pharmaceutical Industry.
I am a keen photographer and author (currently working on publishing my first book), as well as a passionate traveler and explorer. I have had the opportunity to visit many unique, raw and breathtakingly beautiful countries, including hidden gems like Mongolia, Ethiopia or Uzbekistan. These wonderful personal experiences have been at the core of my writing and photography.
I feel privileged to work with, lead and learn from so many excellent professionals in the areas of science, operations and business, both within AstraZeneca and externally with our partners. Adaptability is a key ability in an environment with an intrinsic level of uncertainty and continued regulatory and legal changes.
