
Daniel M Davis is a Professor of Immunology at Manchester University. Prior to this, he was the Head of the Immunology Section at Imperial College London, studied immunology with Professor Jack Strominger at Harvard University, USA, and obtained a PhD in Physics. Professor Davis pioneered the use of microscopy to watch an immune response. His research has revealed new cell structures, immune synapses and membrane nanotubes. He has also recently published a popular science book The Compatibility Gene which widely acclaimed in, for example, the Times, New York Times, Nature and New Scientist. Bill Bryson picked The Compatibility Gene for The Guardian's feature on Books of the Year.
