We are thrilled to welcome IonQ, the first, and leading quantum computing company to join the AstraZeneca BioVentureHub in the heart of the Gothenburg R&D site.

IonQ, a leader in the exciting, and fast growing quantum computing sector, has the expressed mission to build the world’s best quantum computers, to solve the world’s most complex problems, transforming business, society, and the planet for the better. Their unique trapped-ion approach combines unique physical performance, perfect qubit replication, optical networkability, and highly-optimized algorithms to create a quantum computer that is as scalable as it is powerful, and that will support a broad array of applications across a variety of industries.

“We are looking forward to a prospective collaboration with IonQ to explore possibilities for transforming how we conduct drug discovery and development. Initially, the focus would be on applications in chemistry and pharmaceutical development, and over time, this could be expanded to other areas."
Anders Holmén, Vice President and Head of Pharmaceutical Sciences, BioPharmaceuticals R&D AstraZeneca

"We are thrilled to welcome IonQ to BioVentureHub. The potential of applying quantum computing in Life Science is immense, for example in chemistry, where this technology could pave the way for groundbreaking advancements. Exploring this area aligns perfectly with our commitment to sustainable chemistry development.”
Magnus Björsne, Head of BioVenture Innovation Unit, CEO AstraZeneca BioVentureHub.

“Building our Quantum Computational Chemistry Centre of Excellence in the BioVentureHub allows us not only to work closely with AstraZeneca R&D, but also to take advantage of the cross industry ecosystem of which the BioVentureHub is a key contributor. We are energized and looking forward to jointly finding ways to use our Trapped Ion Quantum systems to support Drug discovery and development. As a leading and innovative quantum computing company we are very excited to be an active and engaged member of the community"  Says Lorenzo RoversiIonQ.

Ulrika Edvardsson, Managing Director of AstraZeneca BioVentureHub, welcomes IonQ and Loreonzo Roversi to the BioVentureHub community.

Ulrika Edvardsson, Managing Director AstraZeneca BioVentureHub, comments "We extend a warm welcome to IonQ as they join the BioVentureHub community. We are thrilled that IonQ has chosen to establish their Quantum Computational Chemistry Centre of Excellence within the BioVentureHub, highlighting the appeal of our innovative environment. This addition will significantly enhance our ecosystem, offering exciting opportunities for collaboration with various partners, and for IonQ to benefit from, and contribute to our dare to share culture.”
