AstraZeneca Exchange Gothenburg

Championing Nordic life science innovation

On Tuesday 29 May 2018, we are hosting AstraZeneca Exchange Gothenburg 2018, our annual life sciences networking event at our Gothenburg R&D site.

Taking place for the third year running, the event will bring together senior representatives from across the life sciences sector in the Nordic region - covering industry, biotech, academia, Government and the public sector - for a day of knowledge sharing, networking and partnering.

The theme of this year’s event is Meeting the Future Together with agenda topics focusing on areas that are rapidly evolving the future of health care, such as digitalisation, the way innovation can bring new modalities into medicine, and collaboration.

The event will also include an opportunity to visit and hear more about CoValley, Vectura’s and Next Step Group’s international life sciences center located on the former AstraZeneca Gothenburg site next door.

The programme will feature a combination of keynote presentations, panel discussions and Q&As with high-profile speakers, including Michael Treschow, Chairman of the Wallenberg Foundations Investment Committee, Jenni Nordborg, Director Life Sciences, Government Offices of Sweden, and Kevin Lee, CEO of Bicycle Therapeutics.

Gothenburg is one of AstraZeneca’s three global R&D centres, alongside our sites in Cambridge in the UK and Gaithersburg in the US. Each site is located close to a globally recognised bioscience cluster to allow us to benefit from a wider ecosystem of universities, researchers, biotechs and peers. This is because we know that innovation doesn’t happen in isolation. We already benefit from collaboration with others across the Life Science sector and we build on each other’s successes.

Our joint successes matter not only for our companies, but for our region and its economy – Gothenburg, Sweden and our neighbouring countries.

Our aim with AstraZeneca Exchange Gothenburg is to support the growing Life Science ecosystem in the Nordics, stimulate innovation and make the region as strong as it can be in the biotechnology sector through networking, interactive discussion and knowledge sharing.
