AZPride goes global

Empowering our LGBTQIA+ colleagues to reach their full potential

AstraZeneca has announced the launch of AZPride, our unified global LGBTQIA+ Employee Resource Group (ERG) network. The launch of the global group follows the success of country-led groups and comes at a time with strong significance to the LBGTQIA community – June is Pride Month across the globe. We also honour and commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York, United States, a landmark date in the struggle for advancing LGBTQIA+ rights.

The vision of the AZPride global initiative is:

Empowering our LGBTQIA+ colleagues to reach their full potential


This vision will be driven by the activities at each of our country AZPride groups and through the efforts of our global ERG.

On a global level we aim to:

  1. Establish the global ERG structure, providing a central group for LGBT+ inclusion and supporting the formation of LGBTQIA+ ERGs in local markets (countries)
  2. Leverage Global ERG structure to promote more inclusive policies and workplaces across AstraZeneca for LGBTQIA+ employees
  3. Collaborate across our network on key LGBTQIA+-related initiatives to drive visibility and engagement with our ERGs across the network
  4. Develop and launch an LGBTQIA+-specific training module to educate the organization on topics related to LGBTQIA+ inclusion

All employees are welcome to join the groups as we aim to create a truly inclusive community of LGBTQIA colleagues, their allies and colleagues who want to be informed or engaged.

During Pride month, we will share video testimonials featuring colleagues from our LGBTQIA community and allies, who speak up for LGBTQIA inclusion and share their personal experiences.

Join in AstraZeneca’s Pride month social media activity on Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube during June and July. We are using the hashtag #thisisAZ.

Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) connect like-minded people across AstraZeneca and allow peer-to-peer support on a range of topics. They are voluntary, employee-led groups that encourage an inclusive atmosphere.
