Responsible External Funding is part of being a sustainable company and a trusted partner in health.
Funding Types Supported
Educational Grants and Sponsorships
Educational Grants or Sponsorships that are independent or accredited which focus on education activities, medical or scientific support, and other initiatives aligned to business strategy, such as HCP/scientist and patient education
Examples:Examples: Non-commercial/non-promotional portions of education oriented Conferences, Scientific Forums, Guideline Dissemination, Awards for young investigators
Other Non-Promotional Sponsorships
Non-commercial/non-product promotional sponsorships, which are not primarily for educational purposes, to advance science and health through genuine medical, science, where AZ has involvement and receives the same non-promotional benefit as other sponsors
Examples: Non-promotional portions of Congresses, Patient Group Support, Support of Health Services to improve health outcomes, Consensus/White Papers/Publications
Fellowships
Programmes conducted at host institutions and designed to provide training (i.e., training necessary to obtain a degree or licence) or advanced education to HCPs or scientists in a particular specialty, therapeutic area or field of research. This only covers Fellowships where AZ pays the host institution.
Examples: On-site Fellowship Programmes/Positions, Individual Fellowship (e.g., postgraduate/PhD) Programme/Position
Corporate Memberships
AZ opts to become a corporate member of a non-political medical association or medical society or where the organisation is driving healthcare policy
Examples: Membership at the AZ level (not individual level)
Community Investment/Charitable Contributions
Support provided to non-profit organisations for projects, events and activities that contribute to the public good.
Community Investment includes financial contributions and non-financial contributions (in-kind, employee volunteering time, and product donations).
Examples: Young Health Programme, Disaster Relief Funding, Charity Fundraiser events
